Mike has been commissioned by the US Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association on behalf of the Class of 1962 to contribute two paintings toward their project to decorate a new professional reading room in the Academy library, Waesche Hall.  The paintings will each be 4 X 7 feet.  They will depict a 44 Foot Motor Life Boat in the process of a surf rescue and a 180 Foot Buoy Tender servicing a buoy at sea.

Mike will complete the paintings by September of 2005.  They will be displayed at the Academy Homecoming Weekend in September of 2005.

Mike is thrilled to be included in this project at his alma mater and is looking forward to the “unveiling” this fall.  You can follow the progress of his work on the commission on this website.  To date Mike has completed half-size, color studies for each painting.
